The generosity and determination of the Polish people is coming to the fore. In the absence of more formal organisation, improvisation is the key. Here a local scout group have set up a processing centre and struggle to keep up with the flow. We have doubled their capacity with the addition of more IT equipment. It helps and it’s important. But it’s not enough.
Despite our original intentions regarding nutrition, we’ve quickly realised that for those streaming across the border after the arduous journey, particularly those with children, the confectionary is wanted first and quickly. It’s an easy win.
